Criminal law and criminal procedure

Criminal law is the one field in which Cameroon speaks with a single voice. The Penal Code of 1967 unified the criminal law of the two former territories and drew on both traditions. Procedure is governed by the Criminal Procedure Code of 2005.

The moments that decide a criminal case are usually early. What is said in police custody, what is signed there, and whether an attorney is present, shape everything that follows. The firm is present at the police and gendarmerie stage as well as at trial.
